Higher Level Learning
- Take information and connect it to other things
- Compare information with other information. Zoom out and zoom in.
- This learning tells your brain that the information you are trying to learn is important.
- Creates a network of knowledge.
- Snowball effect: As you learn more things make more sense.
Lower level learning
- Like flash cards is boring and you lose motivation behind doing something
Learning to Learn is a skill you need to get better at.
Steps:
- Tune into the Feeling - Give it relevance
- Tune into the feeling of lower level and higher order learning
- When you feel the information is irrelevant, flip to the higher order and give it relevance
- Go to Higher level order
- Group information together
- Compare and see if the information makes sense
- Groups may be different to what textbooks have given it to us
- Decide which groups is the most effective to us
- Leverage Note Taking
- This is not about writing everything down
- Good note taking should help our brain think
- We need to think about the groups we want to form

Misinterpreted Effort Hypothesis: when we think something takes too much effort, we also see it as being ineffective
